Marketing Design

2023-2024

Below are a selection of work I created for the Bangali Student Association and the Judaic Studies Department at Binghamton University.

Judaic Studies Department

Being the Lead Designer for the Judaic Studies Department was an invigorating experience that taught me a lot about how to work with clients in an academic environment. Designing for an academic environment is challenging as it often has to be approachable to a wide audience. I wanted to make my work visually interesting while containing all the necessary information requested by the department, which was definitely a struggle at first. Staying consistent with branding was also something I wanted to pursue, which is attempted in my square instagram posts with a blocky aesthetic and the font Area in most of my work. With work that was requested personally, such as the Symposium booklet, I could go in different directions.

One concern during my time was that I had just joined during the resurgence of the Israel-Palestine conflict in October 2023. The department wanted to demonstrate that they are an academic department focused on learning rather than a focus on Israel. Thus, I had to approach all my work from different perspectives and be attentive and inclusive to the larger student population. Symposium, for example, needed to be an open discussion about its political associations and how it plays into the larger conflict. Additionally, with limited knowledge about Judaic studies myself, this was also a learning process that required research.

Bangali Student Association

As Public Relations Chair and later Vice President, I had spent a lot of time learning more about my culture and how to integrate that in the modern era as well as the student population. With much of my social media graphics, I needed to translate aspects of my culture to the digital screen, in a way that attracts, Bangladeshis, South Asians, and others. The events here are  incredibly personal to me, and I was able to include parts of my culture’s identity that resonated with people the most. Having this organization be the as an outlet for my design work over the course of my college career was an incredibly rewarding experience.
